About Me
How to Nimbit...
Welcome to the wonderful world of Nimbit, a free music distribution platform that gives unsigned artists and up-and-coming bands the freedom to sell their music to our growing community of Rock.com users.
It's like having your very own virtual record label and high priced marketing firm at your disposal.
Bands and artists must simply upload their music using Nimbit’s easy-to-use interface, input all pertinent track information, set prices (you'll receive 80 percent of all proceeds), and embed the Storefront widget onto their Rock.com Connections profile page.
Upgraded accounts will be able to promote tour dates, manufacture physical copies to sell during performances, and have the added option to distribute their music through other well-known digital services such as iTunes, Amazon, and Rhapsody.
Premium Nimbit users can also sell their own shirts and band merchandise through their Rock.com profile.
Nimbit compliments Connections many built-in social networking tools, giving bands access to thousands of Rock.com users and potential outreach through Audio and Video uploads, as well as a personalized space to communicate directly with fans.
The following step by step guide will get you started on the road to creative independence.
Sign up – If you haven’t already, click here to create your own Nimbit account free of charge.

Adding music to sell – From the Catalog tab select the Add Product link to begin the process.

Product Type – select the option that best describes what item you intend to sell, be it a full length album, single, or official band merchandise.

Basic Info – input all pertinent information about the album or individual track being sold, including a song title, release date, and album cover. If your music isn’t registered with Soundscan for retail sale, make sure to select the “Get a Free Nimbit Barcode” box towards the bottom to have Nimbit generate a random barcode for your product.

Track Info – Here you can provide specific information regarding each individual track.

MP3 Samples – Perhaps the most important step in the process, this is where you actually upload your music and a 30 second song sample for users to listen to. It’s important to note that if you haven’t registered your material with the RIAA, you should select the “Nimbit, please generate free ISRC codes for all tracks” box and the “Owned” option under the License tab to enable uploading of music. Upload your song and a sample via the “Full Track Upload” or “MP3 Sample” drop down boxes. Make sure your browser’s Pop-up Blocker is temporarily disabled. Otherwise the upload utility won’t appear on screen.

Nimbit Pricing – Set a price for your album or single. Free accounts are required to set a minimum price point of $0.49. You can also set a separate price for physical albums if you so choose.

Distribution – Upgraded accounts have the option to sell their music through other distribution platforms such as iTunes, Amazon MP3, and Rhapsody.

Final Review – Check that all your track information is correct and click the “Complete Setup” tab to finish.

Embedding Storefront – Select the Storefront tab and look for the “nimbitOMT” section to the left. Click the “Web Install” link and input a name for you store. Copy and paste the html code provided to you into the “Edit My Profile” section of your Rock.com Connections profile and you’re done.
